Prayers from A Rebel Heart

January 1, 2026

Lord, it’s a new year, again. I look forward to what You have in store for me, filled with hope and anticipation for the opportunities ahead. I am eager to embrace new beginnings, and I pray for the strength and wisdom to navigate the challenges that may come my way. At the same time, I still have one eye on the rearview mirror of last year, reflecting on the lessons learned and the moments that shaped me. If I am honest, there are plenty of things that didn’t go my way, experiences that left me feeling unsettled or disappointed. Things I wish I had done better or not at all, choices I regret and paths I wish I had taken instead, all serve as reminders of my humanity and the complexity of life. Yet, I trust that these past experiences will guide me as I move forward, helping me to strive for growth, resilience, and a deeper understanding of Your purpose for me. I want to live this coming year abandoned of self and fully surrendered to you. I pray you will take this rebel heart of mine molding it into something You can use to shine light into the darkness. In Jesus Precious Name, Amen.

Gracious Father, I keep telling myself this year is going to be better than the last. I don’t want to repeat the same mistakes. I don’t want to dwell on what didn’t go my way. But sometimes those unexpected and unwelcome thoughts creep in and threaten my peace. Thoughts I know don’t come from You. Help me to take each thought captive and weigh in against Your Word and Promises. If the thoughts don’t align with Your Heart, help me to reject them immediately, binding them and casting them far away. Fill my heart and mind with Your Spirit, protecting me from the enemy’s attacks. Give me the strength to stand firm and unshaken as fiery arrows whiz by me. My trust is in You all my days. Amen

Lord, my heart is filled with gladness knowing that I am Your child. As I sit outside in the quiet of Your presence, I am in awe of You and the intricate beauty of creation that surrounds me. Everything I see around me is evidence of Your majesty, from the vibrant colors of the flowers blooming to the delicate dance of the leaves in the soft breeze that kisses my face. The warmth of the sun on my skin reminds me of Your love bathing me in light, while the symphony of nature moving in harmony all around me echoes the glory of Your handiwork; it all points to Your goodness. In moments like this, I can feel the profound love You have for us, a love that is unfathomable and pure. You created this wonderful world for Your glory to be known and to share its perfection with us, not just as a distant observer, but as a caring Father who desires our joy and fulfillment. Yet, we messed it up along the way, and this perfect creation is now broken and yearning for redemption. People who think they are smarter than You try to devise ways to fix it, relying on their own understanding and strength. But deep down, I know the only way to truly fix anything that is broken is to fully surrender it to You, relinquishing control and trusting in Your perfect wisdom. You alone have the Power to save us and our broken world from despair and destruction. We need to fix our eyes on You, the Cross, and allow You to be God in every aspect of our lives. Father, take all the broken pieces of me and make them new, breathing life into my weary spirit. Fix my stubborn pride, my incessant need to be in control, and help me to become more Kingdom-minded, looking to serve others rather than striving to fit into a fallen world. I admit that the unknown is scary, yet I give You my fear, laying it down at Your feet, and surrendering to Your divine plan for my life. I ask for the strength to trust in You unconditionally, to let go of my anxiety about the future, and to help me see the next step to take towards You, ever aware of Your guiding hand. In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen.
