I was running errands the other day and a song came on the radio. It gripped my soul and got my spirit pondering. The song is Left it at the River by Jamie MacDonald. If you haven’t heard it, I will try to post it below. If I can’t, you can find it on YouTube. This. Song. It blessed my soul and was a great reminder of how I should be living my life…How we all who are in Christ should be living our lives.
Once you give your life to Christ, the Bible says you’re a new creation. I’ll be honest there are days I don’t feel made new. Old insecurities and thoughts begin to resurface. Old habits and tempers begin to rise up. The old chains and shame begin to choke the breath from my lungs. But I’m supposed to be a new creation, I cry out. My shame is magnified times a million. Do you know this feeling? Can you relate?
Rest assured, friends, there’s nothing inherently wrong with you. If you’re in Christ, redeemed by the Blood, you are spotlessly white as snow in the Father’s Eyes. He only see Jesus covering you. We are going to struggle with our flesh in a lost world until we’re called Home or Jesus comes for His Bride. The enemy will try shake your confidence in who you are in Christ. He will try to make you question your worth to as a child of God and bring back all the reasons you don’t deserve grace. He is the accuser. We need to shut him down and send him on his way. But I think we easily forget that when we rose up out of the water the day we were baptized, we left our chains of sin and shame behind. They have no power over us anymore. The accuser has no power over you. You are free, redeemed, and the same power that rose Jesus from the grave is in you. So when you face doubt, shame, fear, or unworthiness, speak the name of Jesus and the enemy, the accuser, will flee. Just remember in those moments of attack when the accusations hit you like fiery missiles, you left it all at the River, you have a shield called Jesus, and His Grace is enough. It will always be enough.
